ABOUT THE ROLE
VentureScope is seeking a Senior Technical Professional Leader to provide senior-level leadership at the intersection of technical programs, acquisition, and strategic communications across U.S. Space Force and Space Systems Command mission portfolios.
This role supports senior government leaders by ensuring complex technical and innovation efforts are clearly communicated, strategically aligned, and effectively positioned to advance mission objectives. You will help bridge the gap between engineering, acquisition, and stakeholder engagement, enabling better understanding and faster adoption of emerging capabilities.
We are looking for a leader who can operate in high-visibility environments, guide cross-functional teams, and deliver high-quality, mission-aligned products under demanding timelines. Pay Transparency Range: $180,000 - $225,000 / year
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Advise senior leadership on communication strategy, messaging alignment, and stakeholder engagements supporting mission priorities
Translate technical programs, architectures, and innovation initiatives into clear, executive-level communication products
Lead development of integrated communication approaches supporting acquisition programs, modernization efforts, and emerging capabilities
Support high-visibility engagements, including senior leader briefings, industry events, and congressional interactions
Provide leadership and oversight for cross-functional teams, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment across deliverables
Guide development of multi-format communication products including briefings, reports, narratives, and visual communication materials
Support innovation and accelerator-related efforts, aligning messaging and stakeholder engagement to enable capability transition
Assist in managing communication timelines, priorities, and stakeholder coordination across multiple efforts
Provide mentorship and direction to junior staff, reinforcing standards for technical accuracy and product quality
Support rapid response and crisis communication efforts as required for high-priority or time-sensitive activities
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Extensive experience supporting technical programs, acquisition efforts, or mission-focused communications in a defense environment
Strong ability to translate complex technical and innovation topics into clear, actionable communication products
Experience advising senior government leaders on messaging, stakeholder engagement, and communication strategy
Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams across technical and operational domains
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple formats
Ability to operate in fast-paced, high-demand environments with competing priorities
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage effectively with leadership, technical teams, and external stakeholders
High attention to detail and commitment to quality, accuracy, and mission alignment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
15+ years of relevant experience in technical leadership, acquisition support, or strategic communications
Bachelor’s degree in STEM, communications, business, or related field required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in engineering, communications, business, public policy, or related field
Experience supporting Space Force, Air Force, or defense acquisition programs
Familiarity with innovation programs, technology transition, or emerging capability portfolios
Experience supporting high-visibility engagements, executive communications, or crisis response efforts
Background in technical communications, systems engineering, or program integration
