ABOUT THE ROLE

VentureScope is seeking a Senior Principal Technical Advisor (Level V) to provide enterprise-level technical, acquisition, and strategic communications leadership across U.S. Space Force, Space Systems Command, and broader DoD and national security space portfolios.

This role operates at the intersection of technical architecture, acquisition strategy, and executive-level decision support, advising O-6/SES leaders and Flag Officers on capability development, system-of-systems integration, budget alignment, and innovation adoption.

You will play a critical role in shaping how complex space capabilities are planned, communicated, and advanced, ensuring alignment across technical architectures, PPBE processes, congressional engagement, and mission priorities. Pay Transparency Range: $250,000 - $325,000 / year

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Serve as a senior advisor to O-6, SES, Flag Officers, and program executive leadership, providing insight on technical strategy, acquisition decisions, and portfolio alignment

  • Integrate and translate system-of-systems architectures, mission needs, and acquisition strategies to inform enterprise-level planning and decision-making

  • Advise on communication strategies that support PPBE processes, budget formulation, and capability trade-offs, ensuring alignment between resources, priorities, and mission outcomes

  • Support congressional engagement and legislative advocacy efforts, including development of messaging, justification materials, and strategic narratives

  • Lead development of enterprise-level communication strategies aligned to technical architectures, acquisition priorities, and mission objectives

  • Translate complex engineering concepts, architectures, and operational capabilities into clear, executive-level decision support materials

  • Support cross-portfolio integration efforts, ensuring alignment across programs, domains, and organizations

  • Contribute to long-range planning, governance initiatives, and strategic roadmaps across mission portfolios

  • Lead or guide development of high-impact deliverables including briefings, reports, strategic plans, and stakeholder engagement materials

  • Mentor senior and junior staff, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment across communication and technical efforts

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Extensive experience advising senior leaders on space acquisition, technical architectures, and mission integration

  • Deep understanding of DoD and IC space programs, including system-of-systems design and operational concepts

  • Strong knowledge of PPBE, congressional processes, and acquisition lifecycle frameworks

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical and programmatic concepts into executive-level communication products

  • Proven experience supporting enterprise-level decision-making, strategic planning, and portfolio integration

  • Strong ability to assess technical risk, capability trade-offs, and investment priorities

  • Experience engaging with Congress, industry, and senior government stakeholders

  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and advisory skills

  • Clearance eligible

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 20+ years of relevant experience in space systems, acquisition, engineering, or mission integration

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Master’s degree in business or related field required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supporting Space Force, Space Systems Command, or Intelligence Community space programs

  • Strong understanding of system-of-systems integration approaches

  • Familiarity with R-Docs, acquisition strategies, congressional reporting, GAO/IG processes, and higher headquarters operations

  • Experience advising on innovation, technology transition, and commercial integration strategies

  • Background in strategic communications, policy, or legislative engagement
